The central focus of this show is the “Bushido Code,” which is essentially a code of chivalry practiced by the samurai in various forms through the 15th and 16th centuries, but became common usage in the 17th century. It translates to “the way of the warrior.”
The seven virtues that inspired this show: Benevolence, Righteousness, Courage, Loyalty, Honor, Sincerity, and Respect.

This show is inspired by and pays homage to those that perished on United flight 93 on September 11, 2001. With the rich texture of Frank Ticheli's music, exciting adventures from "High Flight" by Joseph Turrin, and original music by Ryan Pride and Jeffery Tipps, this show depicts the fear, struggle, and bravery of those that attempted to take the plane back from the hands of those that planned to do harm. They saved an untold number of lives by sacrificing their own, and the ending of the show pays its respects with a moving solo of "taps" as we remember those that were lost.
We apologize for the metronome. Will be removed in the updated audio file soon!
In the shadow of the mountain
Arranged by Jeffery Tipps and Ryan Pride
Original show concept by Andrew Lee "The Engulfed Cathedral" - Debussy "Come Sweet Death" - Bach "Children's March - Percy Grainger "The Last Days of Pompeii" - Sousa "Vesuvius" - Frank Ticheli Past Performances: Ridge Point High School, Sugar Land, TX - 2015 |
Based on the tragedy of the buried city Pompeii, this show follows the progression of happy village life to tragic demise. Using both classical and contemporary literature, the preshow and opener frame a quaint city with children playing and every day life. The rumble of antiphonal bass drums shakes the foundation of this frivolity, and after a foreboding 2nd movement of Bach's "Come Sweet Death," we finally feel the earth rumble and the impending doom of a city lost to history.
Audio files are without battery percussion so that they may be customized or arranged by your percussion specialist.

The toy maker's ReverieArranged by Ryan Pride and Jeffery Tipps "Mice Circus" by Bruno Coulais "La valse d'Amélie" by Yann Tiersen "Le Bal" from "Jeux d'enfants" by Saint-Saëns "Pop Goes the Weasel" - traditional folk song Original music by Jeffery Tipps and Ryan Pride Past Performances: Katy High School, Katy, TX - 2014 What happens when the Toy Maker falls asleep? Do toys come to life in dreams? If so, what would they do?
Experience the reverie as we encounter Toy Soldier's marching to the beat of "Mice Circus" from the Coraline soundtrack, or the dancer spinning away in her box to a sparkling waltz by Yann Tiersen. Then the balls come out, bouncing around in chaos, and finally the surprise of the jack in the box, as the song made famous by the beloved toy is transformed. |
