Educator
I teach...
With over a decade of work as a percussion director, band director, drum corps instructor, and performing musician, I humbly offer my services as a clinician or consultant. Educating our youth on the importance of music in our lives is something I've enjoyed doing since 2004. Below are some samples of groups I've had the pleasure of teaching or working with. If you're looking for a clinician or consultant, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page or contact me here.
Clinician topics include marching percussion, marimba, multi-percussion, and orchestral percussion. Samples of my clinic material can be found below. Having taught for over a decade in Texas, I also provide clinics on the All-State etudes.

TESTIMONIALS
Pedagogy
- "This was the best methods class I have taken in my degree so far. Ryan is an amazing performer himself, has taught us to be proficient in a large majority of the percussion instruments, and has taught us how to be teachers. He paced the class extremely well and gave us a good balance of playing and applying what we have learned by teaching it ourselves."
- "Ryan did an incredible job teaching this class. In fact, he did the best possible job he could have with the given amount of time. I can't picture anyone else teaching it. He did a great job of making sure that we had everything we needed to teach a percussion class. Ryan went above and beyond, offering to help individuals out- side of class time and giving us other information that young teachers need to know. He constantly referred to his own experiences and even gave us projects that addressed other aspects of running a band program, like planning out a budget."
- "Great course! The course is very informative and well rounded, especially to a non percussionist. I really liked that it had us play music and rhythms that were more applicable to what a percussionist would do, instead of doing basic songs like "Mary had a little lamb". Aside from learning a variety of instruments, I really enjoyed the real world discussions as they were highly informative, engaging, and real. They were actual scenarios that we as educators could encounter in the field. Not many other classes have done this. Thank you."
Ensemble
- "I really enjoyed the repertoire we performed this semester. It was much more diverse than previous programs I had seen by the percussion ensemble, and the pieces seemed much more crowd-pleasing to me, even from a performer's perspective. I also really appreciate the level of ensemble instruction I received, as it was one of my first experiences in a high-level chamber ensemble."
- "Something I appreciated was that you didn’t make us feel like failures when we didn’t have a lick yet. It's great that we got the chance to play modern percussion literature! This is such a great part of the culture of percussion music. This program had VARIETY!"
